The most beautiful aspect of this party, is that its free… absolutely free, on a public beach – and it'll always be that way. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Around the same time, Smirnoff had begun to bring renowned artists like Paul Van Dyk, Sasha, Lee Burridge, Smokin' Jo, Filetrheadz and John Digweed to India…and the masses were sitting up and taking notice. A following had begun… Seeing a glimmer of the design that we had, and over sheer frustration at the lack of quality music in clubs…Pearl, Hermit and I started a night at a club in Mumbai called Rock Bottom. We called it Submerge. It was open to all that were weary of mainstream bollywood music and were ready to open their minds to experimental new sounds. It sought to create a platform for DJs to play what they wanted, and for followers of EDM to gather around the music that meant so much to so many of us. |
